Day 153: Home Made Home

Loving this bedroom with its hanging pot plants, not something you usually see above your head at night but it works so well, making the room cosy but alive. Think its also great how they've used a branch as a curtain rail, hanging that light material from it.

Day 153: Gypsy Prints

Loving this picture perfect, tiny bathroom with its nature inspired, gypsy style wallpaper and antique mirrors that reflect light helping to add the illusion of more space than there is.

Day 152: The Little Details

Sometimes all you need is a little extra detail in an unexpected place. Using the top of a toilet to display a few things, placing an old book as a tray and adding some simple cuttings from the garden can be all it takes to transform a bathroom.

Day 151: Triangles and Lace

Such great geometric painted floor boards that works so well being slightly worn, making a statement against the delicate lace curtains and soft green colours used in this bathroom.

I like the way different pieces of vintage looking materials have been hung around the bath, not for the purpose of catching water as if it was being used for a shower but for comfort. I bet it looks beautiful with candles glowing around the bath in the evening.

Day 150: A Place for Pixies

For me, this is THE bed. The bed that now I've seen it, I will dream about until it's mine. Such a simple design and something my boyfriend has claimed that he could easily make- we will be putting that statement into action in the future!

I love the raw birch branches used and how they are tied with rope. I think I would maybe use coloured rope to make more of a statement. But thats whats great about this bed, you can easily use different wood and ties to customise it to your own bedroom; hanging curtains from it, winding fairy lights around the posts, decorating the wood with different materials or however else.

Hand me the axe, I'm off to the woods....

Day 149: An Earthquake Shook My House

Great dirt red, poster paint wall with miss-matched photo/art work collage - it doesn't all have to be gridded, right?!

Day 148: From Marrakech with Love

A lot of people looking to create a boho styled space will take inspiration from Morocco it seems and being such a culturally rich country I can see why. I've been twice and see how the colours, textures and patterns from the country are used in different ways to inspire interiors and some, like the image below, are really amazing.

It's beautiful when the influence is more subtle, starting with a white base then layering rich materials, bold patterns of natural earth tones, golden lighting and big potted plants that mimic the vivid courtyards found inside the Riads all over Morocco. This room does it well.

Day 147: An Industrial Revolution

I have always been drawn to bare brick walls and the rough, industrial feel they give a space. I have yet to live in a place with a wall like this, unfortunately my little sister has beat me too it and found herself an amazing apartment in Shoreditch, London with one just like this!! Funnily enough she has even decked out her place with crates like in the photo below. Except she has used them to make a coffee table.

Proof that bare bricks and raw wood go together pretty well, and teamed with another favourite of mine- circus string lights.

Day 146: Teal Dreams

Teal can be a bold, quite dark colour to use all over but here it is beautifully contrasted by the pinks and the bronze sink pops out, almost glowing in the sunlight.
Having just come back from Nepal, we saw bronze often used for sinks as well as heavy 'dhal blat' dishes on which you eat your simple supper from a hammered metal plate. The sink in the photo here reminds me of the warm colour and texture of the bronze we saw in Nepal- of course now I wish I had brought back the plates!

Back again!

After a period of absence I have decided to jump back on the blogging bandwagon and kick start 'It's a Deer' again. Posting an interior-a-day, as before, I will hopefully spread some inspiration, ideas and visual enjoyment! Now that I'm living in Spain, posts might be slightly more Mediterranean, there might be some DIY projects thrown in and maybe even some shots from beautiful things/places/spaces that I see along the way - Who knows!
Stay tuned to find out ....
