Loving this picture perfect, tiny bathroom with its nature inspired, gypsy style wallpaper and antique mirrors that reflect light helping to add the illusion of more space than there is.

Day 152: The Little Details
Sometimes all you need is a little extra detail in an unexpected place. Using the top of a toilet to display a few things, placing an old book as a tray and adding some simple cuttings from the garden can be all it takes to transform a bathroom.

Day 151: Triangles and Lace
Such great geometric painted floor boards that works so well being slightly worn, making a statement against the delicate lace curtains and soft green colours used in this bathroom.
I like the way different pieces of vintage looking materials have been hung around the bath, not for the purpose of catching water as if it was being used for a shower but for comfort. I bet it looks beautiful with candles glowing around the bath in the evening.

Day 146: Teal Dreams
Teal can be a bold, quite dark colour to use all over but here it is beautifully contrasted by the pinks and the bronze sink pops out, almost glowing in the sunlight.
Having just come back from Nepal, we saw bronze often used for sinks as well as heavy 'dhal blat' dishes on which you eat your simple supper from a hammered metal plate. The sink in the photo here reminds me of the warm colour and texture of the bronze we saw in Nepal- of course now I wish I had brought back the plates!

Vintage Mirrors
I am completely and utterly in love with vintage mirrors. Square, circular, beveled edges, victorian, art deco, on the floor, hanging, solo or with lots of others. They give a great romantic, chic feel to a bathroom or bedroom and can tone down a modern room really well making it a bit friendlier.
Below are some of my favourite ideas and 'wish I had these' mirrors and you can check out some more vintage mirror inspiration HERE on my Pinterest page.

Rainbow Rooms
Today colours, colours and more colours are inspiring me and here are some ideas for bringing a bit of over the rainbow magic into your house. Do you reckon you're brave enough to have these colour coded rooms all in one house?
Red... Be bold by creating strong differentiation between the cornacing, wall and skirting boards for an amazing statement room. Pinterest
Orange... Bring in various shades of the same colour with pillows, lamp shades, rugs and wall hangings for a really colour coded room. Better Homes and Gardens
Yellow... Colour doesn't always have to come from paint. Matching coloured fabric hung on the wall with a bed throw of the same tone can make just as much of a statement and give a bohemian feel. The Decorista
Green... Again an example of bringing in statement colours to a room without using any paint. Allt I Hemmet
Indigo...Go crazy and use both colour and pattern in the same room, somewhere like a utility room where you don't spend much time but can still make a statement. Apartment Therapy
Violet... Clean and simple colour on the walls using a dirty purple tone that is modern but the patterned throw and old painting bring warmth and detail. Design Sponge

Yellow in the Window
I thought these yellow roses in our bathroom window looked so pretty I had to take a photo to show.
Just in case you were wondering: Those little ceramic pots are really old and unique medicine and food containers for things like tooth paste, potted meats and anchovy paste that my dad actually rescued from the river in town and now they sit proudly on the sill.

Greenhouse in House
I think that bringing a bit of the outdoors indoors is really important in every house, not just bunches of flowers but real, living plants. They bring vibrancy, freshness and life. Plus house plants are very easy to keep alive, which for someone like me that hasn't quite found her green fingers is a bonus.
Larger tree plants can stretch up into taller rooms with high ceilings making them cosier and plants placed in windows can create dappled, soft light in a bright room. We have 2 quite big plants in our bathroom that sit behind the glass pane of our shower and it makes you feel like you're showering in a tropical forest, which I love!
Why not try putting a plant in your fireplace, on a fridge or windowsill, hang one from the shelves, stand one in the corner of a room, at the end of the bath or on a stool.

Bathroom Tile Inspiration
Recently I have been looking around for some bathroom tile inspiration. We don't have any tiles behind our bathroom sink at the moment and I want to find some colourful, patterned tiles to go there, just a few that will bring colour and detail into the room and make it a little bit more interesting. Ideally they would be quite quirky and unique, but not too modern.
So if anyones knows of anywhere I can get anything like any of the below, please let me know! And I hope you find some inspiration from these too.

Shopping Bag Decor
Today on this cold, wet, miserable December day this girlie dresser warmed me inside and completely inspired me. I absolutely love the idea of framing classic shopping bags (no Topshop or River Island ones allowed) to hang them above a dressing table or even around your bathroom mirror. They are all quite simple but the different colours and sizes fit together with the consistent white frames. Sadly I'm just a poor student so have absolutely no way of obtaining a Chanel shopping bag unless a kind rich person were to donate one to me... hint, hint.
But after quickly scouring Ebay, you can buy one from a lady in America for £7 + £6pp, don't know it that is tempting or not? Probably not.

Bright Bathrooms
So many of us (me included) decorate bathrooms so they end up very white and possibly a little bland which is fine but it's nice to add some personality to a room that can generally be very plain. There are some great ways to add colour to a bathroom making it less sterile and way more interesting. Patterned tiles, detailed wallpaper, interesting mats, colourful curtains and even large plants all brighten a bathroom whilst still allowing it to be a clean, relaxing space.

Funnily enough when we bought our house the bathroom was exactly the same colour as the one above. It looked hideous but this one works so well. The candy floss pink walls are balanced with the vintage cabinet, coat hangers and leather armchair and the large brilliant white bathtub and sink remind you that its still a bathroom not a child's room. I'm slightly regretting repainting our bathroom now!

Unfinished Inspiration
I would LOVE to live here...
This bare brick, barely finished apartment is absolutely amazing. The designers have contrasted the textured, uncovered brick with delicate materials on the bed and floor, soft lighting and gold, metallic colours. And the painted wood floors, chandelier and detailed cornicing finish the bedroom really well. There's enough femininity to soften the rooms, making them cosy and warm but still maintain the brick as a feature.
Basically if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
